Websites for Louisiana vacation rentals and camps
Vexil Studio builds websites for vacation rentals, camps and fish camps in Louisiana. The point of having your own site is taking bookings that do not pay a commission to a platform.
You describe the property by email and get a fixed price back. No calls, no hourly billing.
What a rental website actually has to do
You already have listings on the platforms. The reason to own a site is to stop paying them on every repeat guest.
Direct booking
Every booking taken on your own site is one that does not pay a platform its cut. Repeat guests are the easiest ones to move across, because they already know the place and only need somewhere to book it.
Availability people can trust
A calendar that disagrees with reality costs you a guest and often a review as well. If you cannot keep two calendars in step, it is better to show enquiry-only dates than a wrong one.
The practical page
Nearest grocery, the boat launch, where to get fuel and ice, and how long the drive genuinely takes. Guests ask all of it, and answering it once on the site saves answering it forty times by message.
A written storm policy
On this coast, cancellation and weather terms are something people check before they book rather than after. Having it in writing on the page removes the awkward conversation later.
A finished example you can open
Salt & Cypress is a house on the water at Grand Isle. It is a complete, working site — not a picture of one. Open it, use it, look at it on your phone.
Open Salt & Cypress See all fourteen styles
Salt & Cypress is an invented business, built to demonstrate the style. It is not a client.
Two that are real
The demos are invented. These two are live and serving actual visitors right now.
Redstick Strategies
A live business site, built and deployed.
The Adventurist’s Log
A content site running at real scale with its own tools.
What every build includes
These are not upgrades. They are in every demo above — open one on your phone and check.
Works on a phone
Designed for the small screen first, because that is where nearly everyone will see it.
Loads fast
Hand-written pages with no page-builder bloat behind them. Nothing to slow it down.
A way to reach you
A contact form, your phone number, your hours — whatever the way in should be.
Findable
Page titles, descriptions and structure set up so search engines can read the site properly.
Usable by everyone
Real contrast, keyboard navigation, and text that scales. Some customers need it; everyone benefits.
Yours to keep
Plain files on your own domain. No platform lock-in and no monthly rent to me for hosting.
What it costs
Quoted per project, because a one-page site and a fifteen-page site with online booking are not the same job. Send the form describing what you need and you get a fixed number back by email — and if it is not a job I can do well, I will tell you that instead.
Questions
Can it take bookings without Airbnb?
Yes, that can be built, and it is usually the main reason to have your own site. It changes the price depending on whether you want full payment taken online or just deposits and enquiries. Describe which in the form and I will quote it.
How much does a rental website cost?
It is quoted per project. A single-property site with photos, rates and an enquiry form is a modest job. A multi-property site with live availability and online payment is a much larger one. You get a fixed number back by email.
Will it stay in sync with my platform calendar?
That can be set up, and it is worth discussing before we start, because it is the part most likely to go wrong later. Tell me which platforms you list on and I will tell you honestly what will and will not stay in step.
I only have one property. Is that too small?
No. A single well-built page for one camp is a perfectly good job and it is one of the cheaper things to build. It is also the case where owning your own booking is worth the most, because the commission on a repeat guest never stops.
Do I have to get on a call?
No. Email start to finish. You describe the property, I send a fixed price, you decide.
Do I own it afterwards?
Yes. Plain files on your own domain, no builder subscription, no monthly hosting rent paid to me.
